Why Obsidian Dream is in 12-Point Font

Hey readers and fellow writers! A few folks have asked why I went with 12pt font in the paperback edition of Obsidian Dream—so here’s the quick why behind the choice:

1 – Readability First

12-point font is easy on the eyes. I want readers to dive into the story without any eye strain or fuss.

2 – The Publishing Sweet Spot

Most paperbacks use fonts between 11–12pt. I chose 12pt to keep things clean, classic, and familiar—without feeling too small or too bulky.

3 – The Layout Just Flows

Too small, and the pages feel dense. Too large, and the book becomes a doorstop. 12pt keeps things balanced—both visually and in terms of page count.

4 – Georgia Was Made for This

I used Georgia, a beautifully readable serif font. At 12pt, it brings that literary warmth and clarity I wanted for this book. It’s classic, but never stuffy.

Every design decision in Obsidian Dream—even down to the font—is intentional. Thanks for noticing and supporting the journey!
